During my entire life, I never struggled with my weight. I’ve always been a size 6/8, and have been physically active in one sport or another. It wasn’t until I became pregnant with my daughter that my weight became an issue in my life. During my pregnancy, I gained 62 pounds. When my daughter was born, I weighed 202 lbs. Two weeks later, my husband deployed to Iraq for a year and I was juggling being a single mom and also successfully managing a retail store. With a busy schedule, I struggled to work out 1-2 days per week. The weight wasn’t coming off.
During my husband’s deployment to Iraq, he was working out every day. When he returned from Iraq, he looked like a male model, while I continued not losing weight. My struggles continued as my husband didn’t handle my non-weight loss well either. Late November 2008, he confronted me with it, and informed me that he had tried on my pants, which I was now a size 14, and they were big on him. He continued on to say that, “You are not the same person, you aren’t as confident in yourself, and you are pulling away from me. “Well, that did it. I made up my mind right then that I needed to do something about it! I started putting my needs first by making an effort to start working out 3 days a week. I began taking spin classes, Zumba classes, and any group exercise class I could put in my schedule. Meanwhile, while I was watching what I was eating, my husband was ordering Chinese takeout and pizza. This continued to push me even more.
In September 2008, I took a fit camp which included weight training and I continued to seeing results, however, by this point, I had lost all the “baby weight”. I was down to 142 lbs., but my body still wasn’t as firm as I wanted. This influenced my decision to start working out with a personal trainer. In the short amount of time, my trainer Walter Lewis and I have worked together, I’m seeing tremendous results! Walter pushes me and inspires me to reach my personal goals, which is too not be soft
anymore! Not only have I continued to lose weight, 7 lbs through this holiday season, I’ve lost 3 inches off my waist, and my body fat percentage went from 19% to 14%, and I’m seeing the results with each new “cut” in my muscles. Also I went from a size 8 to a size 4. My husband is currently on another deployment and the last time he saw me I was 20 lbs. heavier. I haven’t told him that I’ve been working out with a personal trainer..that’s my secret! Our reunion in April is going to be amazing!
